The Business Partner will be expected to forge close working relationships to ensure that customer’s MI needs are met. The Business Partner is an integral part of the Commission’s strategic decision making process, and will therefore be expected to identify key issues and provide appropriate recommendations to aid decision making at all levels across the Commission  

Key responsibilities, skills, and experience  






This is a management accounting role primarily responsible for preparing monthly cost centre budgets and forecasts that reflect and anticipate diverse operating activities.  The role will also contribute to the consolidation of the organisational budget and forecast.

The ability to support & challenge senior operational management is essential: helping them to test and vary their assumptions; building with them a good understanding & ownership of their finances; so that the resulting
budgets and forecasts accurately reflect their activities & plans.

Excellent analytical skills are needed. A good knowledge of bookkeeping and accruals accounting will underpin
day-to-day skills in forecasting, variance analysis, and costing.  Describing what is happening operationally by
analysing financial information is key to the role.

Good performance in the role requires advanced Excel skills and the ability & interest to integrate the use of Excel with the bookkeeping system, Great Plains.  You will contribute to the efficiency, accuracy, and quality of information by finding new ways to use this integration.

You share responsibility for helping the organisation to become more efficient and save costs.  As a business
partner you are the lead advisor to the senior managers you support.  You will also contribute to your own team’s
efficiency improvements and cost savings.

The whole team collaborates in the preparation of the monthly finance report, you will support this through specific analysis or writing sections of the report.  Periodically you will support similar work for the Board, Committees and Executive group.
